3. Three Science Academies Write to Javadekar, Ask That UGC System Be Retained
   The three Indian science academies recommend that the UGC Act be retained and strengthened, and are not in the favour of replacing UGC by the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI). The UGC Act isn’t inadequate, they say, rather inefficiently implemented. 
4. Why India Struggles to Predict the Weather Over Its Lands
   An old article. Police complaint against the IMD! Whut? But is the met department capable of delivering an accurate forecast 10-20 days in advance? Maybe not. Because the weather models IMD uses have limited capacity. What are other challenges: Lack of data, poor quality data, fine tuning weather models to suit Indian conditions.
5. Amrit Kaur: India’s First Woman Cabinet Minister
   I’ve been visiting Rajkumari Amrit Kaur OPD at AIIMS since childhood for all sorts of ailments, and the Shimla guest house she donated to AIIMS a few times long ago. But I didn’t realize/know the full force of her contributions to the institute or even that it owes its existence to her.
